Privacy Notice

1. Who we are

JustSplit provides tools for scanning receipts, creating shared expenses, calculating balances, and settling costs with a group. For questions or requests about your information, contact support@getjustsplit.app.

2. Information we process

• Account information: your name, email address, profile image, account identifier, and information provided through Google sign-in.
• Expense information: groups, members, expense names, amounts, item assignments, approvals, balances, and settlement activity.
• Receipt information: receipt photographs, merchant and item details, prices, taxes, currencies, and other text extracted from a receipt.
• Contact information: if you choose to connect Google Contacts, names, email addresses, and profile images used to help find people you know. A contact suggestion cache may remain on your device for up to 24 hours.
• Payment information: purchase amount, currency, credit allocation, and transaction identifiers from our payment provider. JustSplit does not directly receive your full card or banking credentials.
• Technical and usage information: basic device, browser, and IP address information, page views, feature usage, errors, and service-performance measurements.

3. How we use information

• Authenticate your account and keep it secure.
• Create groups, expenses, approvals, balances, and notifications.
• Store receipts and use automated extraction to turn them into editable items.
• Process payments and maintain credit balances.
• Operate, troubleshoot, protect, and improve JustSplit.
• Respond to support, privacy, and legal requests.

We do not sell receipt images or use receipt contents for advertising.

4. Receipt scanning

When you choose to scan a receipt, JustSplit uploads the image to Google services so we can extract editable receipt details. The original image may remain linked to the expense so members can review it. Avoid including unrelated personal or sensitive information in the photographed area.

5. Service providers and sharing

We use trusted service providers only as needed to operate JustSplit. These include Google services for sign-in, receipt storage, and automated receipt extraction; cloud infrastructure for application data; payment services when you purchase credits; and limited analytics services for reliability and product improvement. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards.

6. Storage, international processing, and retention

Our providers may process information in India and other countries. We retain account and expense information while your account or the relevant group remains active, and for longer where necessary for security, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or legal obligations. Receipt images are retained while associated with an active expense or until deletion is requested, subject to backup and legal-retention periods.

7. Cookies and app storage

JustSplit does not use advertising cookies. We use essential storage on your device for sign-in, preferences, offline features, and short-lived contact suggestions. Our limited analytics do not use persistent analytics cookies.

8. Security

We use access controls, authentication, encrypted connections, provider security controls, and operational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so please use a secure account and avoid uploading information that is not needed for splitting an expense.

9. Your choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, or information about how your personal data is processed; withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; and raise a grievance. Contact support@getjustsplit.app. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

10. Children

JustSplit is intended for users aged 18 or older. If you believe a child has provided personal information without appropriate parent or guardian involvement, contact us so we can review and remove it where required.

11. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice as JustSplit changes. We will update the effective date and provide an additional notice when a material change requires it. See our Terms of Service for the rules governing use of JustSplit.
